Hi all,

I got some slip ons that I'd like to put on my FLSTFI. Trouble is, I can't get the stock mufflers to budge. Any hints? I'm lost...

Thanks,

Joe

I just removed mine.

I used a long block of oak and put it against the bracket that held the muffler support (?) and a small sledge to wiggle mine off.

I used an oil filter wrench to grip the mufflers then I was able to twist them back and forth while slowly wiggling them free.

A small sledge and a chisel got mine off!
Just don't go trying to sell the afterwards!
Watch you don't crack the rest of your pipework though!!!

I sprayed the "good ole" liquid wrench on the joints, let it set for a half an hour. After unbolting the rear bolts, then wiggled them around for 5 minutes and eased them off by tapping with a rubber mallot and wiggling. The bike (Deuce) only had 200 miles on it at the time. Don't know if it gets harder as they coke-up.

Let us know what you had to go thru for yours.
