Up until they went with electronic . I don't know what year. I think the ratio's were changed in the drive unit for different tires.
No... Nothing to do with Tires... the runout is so Very close anyway...maybe excepting the 21!!Up until they went with electronic . I don't know what year. I think the ratio's were changed in the drive unit for different tires.
Non mechanical on an FXR works great.No... Nothing to do with Tires... the runout is so Very close anyway...maybe excepting the 21!!
The Ratio seems to me to have changed to get to some Standard... probably cast in Rice!!! It is 2240:60 kinda 3.7 to 1
H-D still had 2 ratios prior to that,,, 2:1 and 1:1
The New, Non Mechanical Speedo????? Must be Magic...IDK
What gauges are those you have? I just have the original 85 gearbox, so no hole for speed sensor that i know of.Non mechanical on an FXR works great.

Its just a question of what speed sensor you run. In my case the Delkron trans case had a hole for an oem style speed sensor.
Many of the aftermarket gauges will work with any of the three main styles of speed sensor, it's just a question of how you wire it up. And in the case of these, the gauge supplies power to the hall effect style sensor that Harley uses. The gauge has to be calibrated after its installed, I just used the oem speedo to pace it.

Was just looking at those dakota digital gauges, they are a great product but man expensive. I see they have the tacho also so i would need a new housing for single speedo. There are several sensors that can be used with the dakota digital gauges,,, 1 reads the oem speedo drive and cable,, another is mounted on the swingarm, and counts the revolutions of the 5 pully bolts..
Are those Dakota gauges?Non mechanical on an FXR works great.

My Tacho is fine, was just hoping to get a speedo without all the bells and whistles to match the original tacho like yourself. That`s the tach I will use, whereas the speedo that I have in the picture up is smaller, which is how I wanted it.
Just perfect face with my early style oem gauges, same sleek and simple (and most important, analog face).
housing measurements are 85 x 68.5 x 44.1 mm (sorry for the metric...) (convert measurements here

YepAre those Dakota gauges?
Do these gauges mount straight up to the original FXR speedo/tacho bracket? Is it possible to get a picture from the side and back of the gauges.Non mechanical on an FXR works great.
