I am not a "guru" on PC's but...as I understand it the only way your redline RPM's gets raised to 6200 is if you get the stage 1 flash. If I am mistaken I am certain someone will correct my error.

not a PC R (isn't that the "race" version?)

i have a part number 818-511 - 08 Touring

i thought the purpose of the PC3 was to be able to tune the bike and raise the RPM limit - without having the dealer put a 07 Sportster Stage 1 Flash in your 06 Road King (yeah, that worked very well)

Any dealer installing a Sportster flash shouldn't be working on bikes IMO. Not to mention an 08 has throttle buy wire and a Sportster doesn't, I don't believe they would be able to actually install that flash but who knows.

The PCIII does allow you to tune the bike and it allows you to raise the Rev limit to 6200 IIRC. No flash is needed. We don't do a lot of PCIII's but I think the PCIIIusb is capable of the rev extend. The model you listed has rev extend. It sounds like you need to enable it in the Map.

thanks for the help

Rev X-tend—allows you to extend the rev limit without having to modify the bike's
ECM; extends the rev limit to adapt for modified cams, heads, etc. This feature comes
preinstalled for Harley Davidson Power Commanders. For other vehicles contact
Dynojet Technical Support for more information
.

my bike is limited to 5500 RPM per the OEM Tach.

per that page, version 3.1.7 has these features.
my PC3 software shows version 3.2.1

and the "screen snap shot" of the Ver 3.1.7 has a few functions my 3.2.1 screen does not.

If you have a PC3R open the PC program Hit the control key then F key on your key board. That should open a menu option for Rev extender if you like call us on the Acc pump feature
you know your stuff. page 83:
looks like i have to go take the seat off & see if it works, it doesn't appear to without the PC3 hooked up

ACTIVATING REV X-TEND AND START-UP FUEL FEATURES
You activate the Rev X-tend and Start-Up Fuel features using the special Power
Commander Features Dialog. These features can be turned on or off, but do not need
to be configured.
1 Press CTRL+f
The Power Commander Features Dialog box appears on your screen.
2 Enter your feature key in the input box provided. You must get this key from
Dynojet. If you have questions call Dynojet Technical Support.
3 Click Add Feature

ok, so i hooked it up to the bike, and it was turned off,

so i clicked it ON, renamed the map, saved the map, and sent the new map to the PC#

but here is a sreen shot of the Accel Pump, showin the PC3 connected on the PC3 screen in the back ground, and the Accel Pump showing it not working.

the only way i found the 90 page manual, was by open the PC3 interface, then HELP and then SOFTWARE MANUAL.
i can't understand why they would not load than into the root directory so you can find it easily

and if you can't find the ~90 page manual, i will tell you where it was hidden on my computer (in the backup Maps folder)

i only found the 6 page quick reference before when i was working on this

Very few bikes need the accel pump feature. I had a 105/110
95" build that didn't need it.
As I understand it, it's only useful for very big builds.

good data.
i will just call Fuelmoto, and make sure my box is not defective.

i had a Race Fueler (the little box with 6 dials in it) on my V-rod
and one of the dials was an accelerator pump feature
it was AWESOME, it was like the bike telepathically read your mind, when you twisted the wick, it responded ASAP.

You cannot have the PCIIIusb software open at the same time the "accel pump" software is open. You must open the "accel pump" utility and click the button (with either the 9 volt battery connected or the bike running).

As for the Rev Xtend, you do not need to reflash the ECM to increase the rev limit. The PCIIIusb allows for this. You need to have either the bike running or the 9 volt adapter connected then open the PCIIIusb software. Press the Ctrl and the F key at the same time. You should see a window open that mentions the Rev Xtend with an empty box next to it. Click that box and then click OK. If you not see anything in the window let me know and I can help you from there.

roger that, thanks,

i got it to work (post #11)

but I haven't got to ride it yet. and I put the seat on, intending to ride to work, but it's been to cold for the OL in the mornings. been taking the truck with heated seats :(

it cheaper on gas for us to ride together, but worse on my nerves....

i won't worry about the Accel Pump feature.

one more question while I have all you smart guys subscribed to one thread...

How do I fix the Tachometer reading

it appears the PC3 does data manipulation by telling the ECM the motor is at 5k RPM when it goes above the stock Redline.

so the Tach works great to ~5500, then it drops back to 5000 and stays there.

we hooked up the Laptop.
a buddy watched the Tach, and I watched the PC3,
and my buddy noticed that the tach went to 5500, then dropped down, and the engine RPM kept increasing,
and I saw the RPM on the laptop get around 6200. we did it once more, and concurred and then went and rode the snot out of it.

that thing WILL run with the PC3 and 2 into 1 pipe.
he said his bone stock 09 RG would not stay with it.

so everything is working like it should,
except it appears the "false" RPM reading the PC3 is sending to the ECM is also being fed to the tach.

so now i can't tell what RPM to shift at,
what's the fix for that?
i can go by the speedometer,
or install a shift light? but what would I trigger it off of? the coil input?

this bike pulls smooth & hard to 6200.

i think on my road king, i just used the speedometer.

On the 2008 Touring Models (no other models are affected) when the Rev Xtend feature is used the tach will only read up to 5,000 rpm even though the bike actually revs to 6,200.

There is no "fix" for this. It is simply the way it is. If you must have a tach reading for shifting I could make you a really long deal on one of our LCD Displays.

cool, thanks for the honesty.
i can accept that, i will just shift by the speedo, gives me a reason to do a few WOT runs and match the RPMs to the speedo.

thanks for the offer on the LCD display, that's nice of you.
i am happy with my PC3 as is, the bike runs awesome, and the custom map you made in the other thread keeps it from popping decel.

thanks for the excellent support
