HOG rides in Midwestern states

Does anyone know of HOG rides in any Midwestern states, say MI, IN, OH? HOG web site does not list any, neither does HOGTales. Thanks.
No, but you can contact the HOG National Rep for your area and ask them. I think a Michigan rally in the UP would be great. Start a trend, contact your National Rep and see if he can put you in touch with a local chapter and organize a Michigan state rally.

Most state HOG rallys use a web address that consists of the state 2 letter identifier followed by "statehogrally.com"

So the Alaska site is http://www.akstatehogrally.com
The Indiana site is http://www.instatehogrally.com

And so on.

As far as "HOG rides" go, there may not be any "official" HOG sanctioned rides, but I believe there is one for riding around the Great Lakes.

Check with local HOG chapters to see what they have going on. Most have websites you can Google up.

Michigan's HOG Rendezvous

Michigan does have a HOG "Rally" ; but it is called a Rendezvous.
This year is the 23rd annual "Rendezvous on the River" and it is being held in Ionia, MI July 7-9 2006. Checkout www.mihogrendezvous.com

I have asked this same question for several years and here is what I get told. The Rendezvous is put on by the Harley Michigan Dealers. It is not a State HOG sanctioned event, if it were you would get a pin like othe state rallies. I am told by seveal people that the organizers want to keep it this way and the people seem to go along with it. I personaly would like to see a state rally, but I know that the Renezvous is a good time as well. ?prty:
HOG in MI

I'll probably attend for one day -- don't drink so that's not a draw and I'm not all that much into parties -- just want to go to see
I am thinking the same thing, maybe just attending 1 day. I see you can purchase a 1 day advance purchase ticket if you are a member of a hog chapter for $35. I am waiting to see who the bands will be. In years past there has been some top notch groups.?prty:
The Michigan HOG Rendezvous is a MUCH better time than the official HOG state rallies I've been too ... because they don't have to follow HOGs stupid rally rules. We're going back this year ...
Isn't West Branch still going to hold a rally?
I don't know but there wasn't a state rally listed in H.O.G. Tales, while all (or most) other states had them.

Correct. Rather than doing an official state HOG rally, the Michigan HOG chapters and dealers have decided to go their own way. Because the dealers subsidize the rally, you get 2 or 3 national name acts (last time we were there, they had Dave Mason, George Thorogood and Trick Pony ...), a BUNCH of local bands from around the state (essentially, each chapters local favorite), independent vendors, and MUCH more bang for your buck than at an official state rally. You do get a pin ... heck, you can even buy a t-shirt ...

It's been held at West Branch FOREVER, but this year it's been moved to a much larger venue in Ionia:

2006 Michigan HOG at Ionia

I am a michigan HOG officer. There is no more west branch. Has been moved to Ionia. Supposed to be a great campground. Michigan does NOT have a "HOG RALLY". Each yr the Michigan Dealers association sponsers the Rendevouz. It starts friday to sunday. At least 2 good bands each night. Great fireworks display. Some hell raising but not too bad. If you go, enjoy! tickets are pretty cheap, well worth the money. Includes camping, if you choose, bands, fireworks, etc.
and this year they have alice cooper and sytx dont know the other 2 bands playin, but for the most part it is a good time
The reason the Rendevouz moved from West Branch to Ionia was greed. When it started years ago it was sponsered locally. Now it is sponsered by the Dealers and some entertainment company, that's how they get the bigger names in for the concerts. It was at the fairgrounds and the County wanted more money saying they were losing money on the event. At around $100 a person to get in I'm not sure how they were losing money?
Me, I would ride up for the day for the parade through town. Lots of bikes to check out even though it's not the official bike show.
I will probably make the ride to Ionia the year to check it out, it's 3 hours away rather than the hour and 1/2 it took to get to West Branch so I get to be in the saddle longer.
The West Branch thing is the weekend after Ionia so I'm sure I'll hit that one as well. It will have other bikes there besides Harleys.

Check yer facts, man ... The Rendezvous has been sponsored by the Michigan Harley-Davidson Dealers Association (MHDDA) for 23 years. Ticket prices have NEVER been $100. They were $50 for several years, just increased to $55 a year or 2 ago ....

Rip off

Last year the ticket prices were 75$ for the West Branch HOG Rendezvous. This is what my dad was charged as a HOG member to get into the fair grounds. All the locals up there tell me the issue was with the promoter not the event costing the town money.

This year West Branch is holding a bike show/event July 14th, 15th and 16th and the cost is 30$.

Ticket price was $55 last year. Your dad probably bought a T-shirt, they cost $20 and were not included with the ticket price ...
