Does the National H.O.G. Chapter/Organization have standardized motorcycle show rules or is the classification of a particular bike left up to the H.O.G. chapter hosting the show?

Reason for asking: My '99 Softail is bone stock except for the typical bolt-ons and chrome dodads. I have changed the handlebars but the the frame and paint are bone stock. However, the last 2 shows I entered my bike was placed in the "Softail Modifed" class because of a set of "Twisted Spokes" installed in place of the stock spokes on the front wheel. The is considered a "modifed wheel" according to the local chapter, which means I have to compete in the Mod class against showbikes that have $$$ billet wheels, modded frames, and the like. As nice as my bike is, it don't stand a chance, but I'm told "Them's the rules". If I showed up with a stock bike with a $5000 custom paint job it would be in the stock class. Doesn't seem fair to me but I am at the mercy of the rules as interperted by the locals.

I dumped HOG after the free year so I don't know/ What about their web site? You should be able to ask for the "official" rules.
Worth a shot and good luck to ya!

I have been a life HOG member since 1893, don't believe there are any national rules for this subject.

There are no nationally sponsored HOG bike competitions, just those sponsored and put on by local HOG chapters.

Because of this, each chapter will have it's own judges and they will have their own rules.

If you choose to enter, you are at the mercy of whatever local 'judges' the HOG chapter chooses. When the local chapters around here put on bike shows, the judges usually are members of the local chapter or associated in some way with the dealer.

DaveT,
1893??

Dayumm!! You must scare the DMV to death everytime you show up to renew your driver's license :D :D !!

Well, I was hoping someone would tell me there is a national standard for HOG sponsored bike shows.

Maybe if "old man" DaveT passes away next week (LOL!!) he'll remember me in his will so I can buy that set of billet wheels for the next bike show!!

Bike shows....

I attended the exact same bike show (sponsored by the local HOG chapter) this past spring and fall. It was the same show, same people, different judges, MUCH different judging methods. So evidently the rules are up to the judges involved in each particular show.

Good luck!
