I had a question about oil line routings on a late model Touring Bike...

After all of the info I have obtained recently, I was considering REMOVING my oil cooler to have a more reliable bike, i.e less plumbing. This due to the switch to a quality synthetic oil (Even though I have double wrapped the oil lines where wear from vibration might occur, with over-wrap, using a larger hose size).

On the right side of the bike, where are those 2-oil lines going to/from that are beneath the engine transission interface cover? I had the H-D oil cooler installed that ties in to them both. I understand they are on the "return" side, lower pressure, but where do they go?

(I am waiting for my service manuals to arrive still so I am not knowing).

Any input appreciated...

The upper most line is the return line from engine to the oil pan. Your oil cooler was plumbed using the upper fittings. From the top front fitting on the engine, to the cooler, back to the top rear fitting to the oil pan.

The lower hose should not have been touched. This is the oil feed line from oil pan to the engine.
