Im building a 95" kit on a new 2005 engine non timken style,
Is 10.5- 1 ratio Going to be safe? how many 10.5-1 builds do you know of which have had Problem free High Milage? How much does it decrease
engine life from a 9.5-1 or stock, Thanks for your opinions Dan

For me compression ratio is more a matter of gas quality. What octanes do you have readily availible? 10.5 you should run premium, 97 octance.

Our Gas is avalible in 91 and 96, I think the 96 would be more like 93, Is 93 the highest you can get there, I have twin plug heads which can let me run half a C.R point Higher, I was more conserned about the bottom end holding up,

Alot of places here 93 octance is the highest. To be honest I would to go look, to be sure what I have locally.

I have heard some people question high comp and bottom end wear. Its probably not something you can measure. Also probably not something you will ever see difference. So it has to be rebuilt at 80k miles and 100k. Who knows.
Maybe somebody can chime in who has more experiance with it.

Im not going to wild with the cam lift as im leaving it chain drive at the moment, exspecting about 100&100 have the se211 cams, not so much strain on the chain set up with only .508 lift, Will the 10.5-1 cause faster carbon build up?

I have 10.5 and run all day with 93 octain. No pinging even in the summer. As far as engine life, like Berzerker said maybe 80,000 instead of 100,000 or maybe 120,000 instead of 150,000 who knows. It's the last thing I worry about when I crack the throttle. If it bothers you keep it stock.

I'm with you on this csoday... Here is CA we only have 91 and that's probably pushing it. I run 10.5 and not one ping hot or cold. Its all in the sert tuning from my experience. I have a 5-gal can of VP3 110 oct for when I run with the hot-rod bikes, but since I just had a good race tune, I don't think it matters anymore...
