Helmets?

Hello
Unfortunately I live in a state where you are required to wear a helmet.
I am having a hard time finding one that doesn't make me look like a total dork. I currently use a skid lid, but I figure it I have to wear one, I should have some protection. Any thoughts?
Maybe you can steer me in the right direction.
Thanks

Hey Alien, Wasn't attacking you directly just using you as an example. Hell, I'd buy you a beer anytime. The point I was trying to make is too many people lay down and take the beating, I can't, if someone is in my sh1t they can count on me getting into theirs. MA Senate bill 1266 was released from commitee with a "ought to pass" vote, it was then burried in the ways and means commitee to die, which it did.
All the states that have succesfully repealed the helmet law have done so with MASS ralleys, it works.
Ok cliche time. You can't win if you don't play. Hell, I vote for the lesser of the two evils myself but I vote and I let them know I vote. Next time there is a protest ralley to the statehouse everyone come on out, even if you believe in helmets you have to believe in freedom of choice besides, it's fun to watch the little suits scurry around because the "bikers are here" and who knows, maybe you'll get your pretty face on the 5 o'clock news.
Buy the way I'm just outside of 495 and I hook up with you anytime for a ride Alien, maybe we'll invite Dennis along, you'll LYAO when we stop!!!!

Rocko, fourhour either of you guts going on any of the halloween runs?

I've alredy been on the 5oclock news, my face aint that pretty.

Wyodude, yes IBEW is the electrical workers union, we are very politically active regarding, project labor agreements, local labor, sometimes union support or lack of can make or break a job, especially early on in the permit and variance procedures. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with everything each of these organizations does. I am all for descent wages, health care, a safe workplace. Why should CEO's make millions and many non union construction workers can't afford a home. I'll shut up now I could go on for days, I'm a little opinionated you know. All right one more thing, a few years back in Brockton, Massachusetts the local park department banned motorcycles in all city parks because a couple clowns would speed through and they couldn't catch them. Ten thousand motorcyclists rallied, we went through 3 judges and a quarter of a million dollars in legal fees before the supreme court struck the ban down, it's tuff in Mass.

T&A, Got your point across though, eh!:D
Right on Alien,
I'm United Steelworker myself. Just keep up the good fight and remember that old saying about nothing worth fighting for being easy to get.

Freedom isn't Free.
Umm... WTF did I just write ? I'm not even sure I understand it. LoL
Ahh, f*ck it. You know what I mean.

P.S. No, I'm not Stoned or Drunk right now.
Thealien what ya got for Halloween runs? I have a run planed this Sunday out to Singletary for the swap meet and there is a apple pie run next Sunday to somewhere in VT. Hopefully I'll have my cams and carb for that run so I can shake the old girl out.
Get the miles on while you can boys and girls, I think it's going to be a long couch riding season.
P.S. No, I'm not Stoned or Drunk right now
Ah a slacker huh:D
I'll post when I have the dates, one usually leaves RRstation university ave off of route 128 and is pretty big. One of the local ones is at night and put on by Freewheelers MC and is also a lot of fun.

PS I'm riding as long as there is no snow on the streets.
Just received a Shoei Full-face from Helmet Harbor. About a hundred $$ off what a local dealer wanted. Got it in 4 days!! Figure I better get it now that cold weather is gonna hit. Really impressed with quality and fit, although I went in to the dealer and fit the helmet there before I ordered online. They got to be good for more than taking my $$$ everytime I walk through the door.
FXRS WROTE "What is most important to you? " My head is in the rite place. I wear a CUP. LOL I have a Nolan 100, but HD has and so do others, the flip face front wit single hand release. It's a ***** to have to use both hands to open it up. You sneeze or want to spit or pick your nose, you have to pull over.
So yfb200, do you like your Nolan 100, I just saw a wright up about that same helmet in the American Rider magazine. I thought the flip up devise was a one finger thing:confused:
Mark, I bought mine last year and it has a release on both sides of the chin. The new 1's have the single release in the middle of the chin. Not sure if it's still called the N100 tho. And yes I like it as much as I could like a brain bucket. Don't like to wearen them much. Who needs their head anyway. Not that I don't love head, Receiving that is. But I ride all year as long as there's no snow, and anything below 40 is a b itch. Had to leave a space because B ITCH I guess is now a dirty word. Even at a biker site. LOL HD just sent me a little catolog of some new crap and they have a flip face also, it's like $239. Never tried one tho. I would suggest you go to a bunch of stores and try them on, at least the 1 your going to buy. Then order it of the net. Saved me 80 bucks on that N100.

OK you guys started it. I live in MA and I wear a cap, I ride in NH, RI and CT so I can pull it off, am I an idiot, maybe. My CHOICE!!! Thealian is pissed there is a helmet law in MA, question: do you belong to ABATE or MMA? If your answer is no, quit *****'n, if yes I can't hear you. Fact: 250,000 registered motorcycles in MA and ABATE and MMA combined have a little over 1,000 members.
Politicians react to votes only, period. And it's not about the pay scale it's about power, half the assholes on the hill were punching bags when they were kids and this is their revenge.
The major argument is "uninsured motorcyclist cost the taxpayers money". The last time I looked at my paycheck I was a taxpayer and let's have a show of hands on who among us is uninsured.
People get your sh1t together and learn to play the game or next you'll be crying about how the goverment say's motorcycles are dangerous and "costing the taxpayers millons".
OK I'm almost done, took a Toprol and I'm calming down. Next time I meet you in a bar I'll buy you a beer, hell come on up to the clubhouse and I buy all night but, if you whine about how bikers are always getting screwed and I don't see an ABATE or MMA pin/patch, invite me to bury a foot up your ass because your screwing all of us who believe in personal freedoms.
If I offended anyone I appologize, if I pissed anyone off, GOOD.
I am affraid to ask but why not... What is ABATE and MMA, I am new so take it easy...

cant help with MMA, probaly massachusetts motorcycle association.
I am too, It doesn't matter in Mass(not that I give up) the politicians don't care. Remember a couple of years ago we voted out the seatbelt law(more cars than bikes) well they rammed it down our throats and now they have that click it or ticket campaign going !!! With the Kenedys, kerry's finnerans and Bermingham's we don't have a chance.

We do have agreat argument at the statehouse, a bill was introduced for helmets in automobiles based on the "head injury argument". Head injuries in cars cost way more than head injuries on motorcycles. Should be an interesting debate, motorcycle helmets are always a medical cost issue !!!!

Modified motorcycle association..

Thats one issue I was going to bring up for ABATE of Iowa if some fool is dumb enought to try bring up helmet laws here again.
Its sort of a good way to end their political life in this state.
But then were the bigest political action commity in the state and we don't let them forget it.

I believe that was the former name of the MMA.
Yeah I did a search after the post and didn't feel like editing, Modified motorcycle assosiation is more of a national organization with state branches, I still think Mass is part of it, The emblem is still the same ???
