This is my first post here and I just wanted to say "hi" and introduce myself.

I'm 32 yrs. old and have been riding off and on since I was about 10 yrs. old. I started out on a 100cc dirtbike and rode that until I was old enough to get a license. I then got a 125 dirt/street bike and rode that until I was about 21. After that I pretty much stopped riding all together as college/work became a bigger priority than riding and I didn't have anywhere to keep a bike for much of that time.

I bought a 2002 883 Sportster Hugger in Nov. 2001 and have wondered why it took me so long to get a bike again. Riding is great and I've even taught my boyfriend to ride and now he's hooked too.

From what I've seen so far this site looks like a great place to spend some time and learn more about Harleys and motorcycling in general.

Thanks everybody.

And fearnot - my boyfriend bought his bike in Dec. 2001. He couldn't wait to get out and ride with me. He likes the looks of sportbikes so he bought a Ninja 500 for a first bike. See, cruisers and sportbikes CAN get along and ride together.

It's amazing how different cruisers are versus sportbikes. I have better low end power than he does but he beats me on top end power. He's got less cc's but my top speed is approx. 95 mph and his is 120. Of course, his bike also weighs 100 lbs. less than mine.

Both types of bikes have their pros and cons and are built for different purposes. I just enjoy motorcycling in general and don't care what type of bike other people ride.
