This winter I removed my headlight (03 Fatboy) and tins - in the process I cut the headlight ground wires and put a plug connector in line (no way to get the wires off the bucket - riveted on). When I fired up the bike today, the high beam indicator was on (dim) when the headlight was on low beam, and brightened up when on high beam. When the bulb is unplugged, the indicator functions normally. My question is (before I start tearing things apart) do I possibly have a short, or could I have damaged the bulb itself?

Thanks,

Dave

I know this is an old post. I have this issue as well after installing a new headlight, having to cut the wires. The new headlight's wires didn't match the color-coding of the Harley wires. Seems like that indicator lamp works based upon line resistance because I'm sure I have it wired up right. I just deal with it... I guess it's nice knowing my headlight is on vs. just on brights.
