Can you use Head/base gaskets and others once they have been compressed?
ie when using new ones after you have Checked valve to piston clearences etc, seems a waste if you have to replace just because they have been torqed down, engine never fired, thanks for help

I wouldn't and never do. They are made to crush and an awful lot of work if you have to remove them because of sealing issues. I try to do my measuring on the old gaskets during disassembly.

Per cometic yes you can they give a spec on how much you can crush them. WE use them for a full season on the drag bike and it gets torn down a bunch. ANd we never have had a failure at 14.5 compression .
