Hacking the EFI

Does anyone have experience interfacing to the EFI computer without having to buy a $500 computer program (racer tuner) that is only good with one bike. There are aftermarket tuners for cars. Why not motorcycles. And if one owns several bikes one should not have to buy several race tuners.

Not hacking

I don't condone hacking the MOCO race tuner. I am looking for an aftermarket program that interfaces with the EFI but is not limited to one bike. There is already one company out there that sells a product that reads the error codes and does diagnostics (twin scan 88). It is a small step to add the abillity to program. Now, if the computer is specifically copyrighted by MOCO to not be adjusted except by the race tuner, I won't do it. Otherwise I will seek to do it. If have to, I will cough up the bucks for a race tuner or maybe an aftermarket replacement computer.

Reprogramming the ECM is perfectly legal. Using a hacked SERT to do it is not. There is another ECM tuner available although I don't offhand know the name. It cost around $800 and the dongle to allow you to tune two bikes cost another $200. It would only be cost efficient if you run a tuning shop or have more than five bikes.

For what you are talking about doing your life would be easier with a www.daytona-twintec.com ECM. If you let them know you are a member of V-Twinforum.com you get a discount.

Personally, I use the SERT. But as Chuck says, there is at least one other system (eg. http://www.technoresearch.com/Products/Direct-Link/Direct-Link.htm), which would really only be cost effective for a volume tuner. Unless of course you want to go the replacement ECM route.

Guys, I am a Direct Link Rep from TechnoResearch. PM me with any questions you have and I'll answer them for you. Take a look at the Rapid Bike products also. Our parent company is working on a kit for all HD's. Half the price of PC and the Rapid Bike 3 does Ignition and Injection in one unit. If you live in a higher elevation like I do, the RB3 has a toggle switch so I can tune out a map for Colorado Springs and I can load another map for lower elevation. To activate the other maps I just tap the toggle switch.

Nice stuff!

Cheers,

I think what you want is having a ecm in each of your bikes that could be tuned from one source, but for now you would need to buy a ecm for each bike. To bad the factory unit cannot be reprogramed from an outside source like the autos can. Basicly anything you add like a sert replaces the factory ecm.

Ok there guy. I used sert as an example because most everyone else never heard of the thundermax. And no thanks on the cable I have my own.
cool, after re-reading, i think you are looking for a way to tap the factory ecm to reprogram. ala tweecer software for the auto industry.

dare i mention on this forum that there is a hack for SERT to be used on multiple bikes.

don't expect any more info, as i have already been banned once and i think to say more would get me a couple weeks riding time.
