i had some black heal marks also and i used something called "goo-gone", its like the stuff call goof-off that you can use to remove paint,glue,tar...etc..

works great and doese not damage paint or chrome. just make sure to wax well after you use it.

i found it at home depot and was very impressed with it.

p.s. it also takes off the black skid that my boots make on my tile floor...

electricfied : thanks for the tip about the goo-gone. My OL will be especially happy to hear it. Between the youngest rugrat (14 yrs old) and myself, we leave those nasty heel marks all over the kitchen floor. Now maybe I can get out of the doghouse over this issue!

Finally got around to trying the oven cleaner trick. Hoo Ahhhhhh, like magic. Talk about an effortlessly way to clean melted heel marks, to road tar off exhaust. Thank you all.
