Geared Cam Lash

After a geared cam change on a TC, how critical is checking the Gear lash and changing the gears to bring it within S & S specs… and how often is it out of Spec. and is it is an issue…..it just seems like there is quite an expensive apparatus involved that is used to check the lash and I seldom if ever see any notation on this site by anyone who changes out their cams having ever checked

It's worth checking. Most are OK but I had to install an undersized pinion gear.
