I am going to upgrade my 98" to something bigger.

For those that have either a 107, 114, 124, could you tell what kind of mileage you are getting as well as the type of bike, and type of riding you do.

Mine is an 05 Road Glide and I do a mix of long distance hauls and short rides to work.

Thanks,

Lots of guys seem to do better than me, maybe it's the way I ride...don't know, but I see mileage reports in the 40s all the time.

Anyway, I've got an '04 Dyna with a 120" in it and get about 30-31 mpg. In my '07 Streetglide with a 107" I get about 33-34 mpg. Both are a mix of city and highway. On the highway I rarely ride below 70 mph and I do have a tendency to twist it off the line in city driving. Both bikes are ridden single most of the time.

driving habits aside , we see a range of mpg reports from our customers that range from 37-50. On avg the larger engine realy pull down some great mpg, most are in the 45-47 range with "normal" ridings. Snaps we know how you drive HA HA

I don't know what it is. Best mileage I've ever gotten was on my '07 Streetglide when it just had a stage I w/ SE slip-ons, SE AC, and SERT. Even then I only got 36 mpg. I did have a Yamaha Roadliner with a 113" in it for awhile that got 44 mpg.

124" in a Dyna - 48 MM Mikuni - TMan 650 cams and R&R Cast Heads. Stock 5 speed. Low of 38 MPG, High of 47.6 MPG, Typically between 40-43 MPG. I check every tank full.

Ironically ... this is about the same MPG as the prior 103" build with SE 260 Cams and SE HTCC CNC Ported Heads. No one was more surprised as I was. As you can imagine ... the 124" is a bit more sensitive to "Hot Rodding" around. So far I've been pretty tame with it most of the time* ... in an effort not to blow a belt.

* Clarification ... I'm not exactly a "Conservative" rider. Not a "Wild Man" either, but do enjoy the power.

I'm going to guess that the guys reporting 50+ mpg's are leaving out the fact that they are coasting down some big hills with the motor shut off ??? :roflback: 35-38 with my 113" most of the time putzing

That would certainly be a very odd way to want to ride.
I'm suspecting that the extreme VE in those engines, and the world-class tune would probably be more the reason, than thinking that someone would be turning their bike off(???????????????????????) while riding. I'm scratching my head on that one.

Conversely, i suppose you would have to ride exclusively in Death Valley to get 50+ MPG with a 117". Unless the poster meant 50MPH.

52 mpg under normal, average, everday, garden variety type, riding conditions.
That client lives in Cape Cod, Mass., and this is on a 2007 Road King.
Our Stage II heads, a Bob Wood #6, 54mm S&S w/ Tuned Induction with their ECU, Axtell Cylinders and Rhinehart true duals. 139 ft/lbs at 3300 rpms
130 at 2300 and still at 4300. Bagger combo and then some.
Doing another one now for a client from Indianapolis.

How does anyone get +50 mgp? With a big bore???

I have a pretty much stock 1999 FLHR ( just a screemin' eagle filter) and stock mufflers. I'm freakin lucky to get 150 miles from a tank.... That sounds more like 30mpg (US Gal's).

probably cruise at 80-85 on the highway.

I've never ever come close to 50 mpg... what gives?

I would imagine that one forgets to reset the trip odometer between fillups or they add gas in between fillups.

Okay, I've got a mild 95" build and I live at and ride mostly in the 500' - 800' elevation and hammer it a fair amount and usually get 40mpg. Last year when I road in Colorado between 5000' and 12,300', I would fill up and calculate the mpg and come up with 45 - 46mpg. Obviously the ecu is reading the absolute pressure and adjusting the afr.

I'll be riding a max effort 114" next year, we'll see what it gets but I'll be shocked if it's better than my 95". ;) I'm expecting more like 30 -35 mpg, if I'm lucky.
