Front handlebar stoplight switch replacement help

'04 Softail Standard--I am trying to replace the front brake switch. Does anyone have a detailed blowup of front brake light switch installation? I have factory manual but it is not detailed enough. There is a small brass wedge like piece of metal that "flew" out when I took it apart--cannot figure our where it goes. Put new switch in but too loose in it's seat--maybe that piece (see photo) is a wedge to take up room between the switch and the housing? View attachment 27427

yes, the brass wedge keeps the switch in place... it goes between the rear of the switch and the housing, keeping the switch in the hole (it's in the hole!). A dab of silicone on it is a good idea too.
you have to push it down with a pick or something to get it seated well....and yes a dap of silicone is not a bad idea...make sure the connections you made are good and covered well beacause thats where the electrical demons begin...good luck
Thanks

Thank you mucho!!!
