I think I've gone through my second.

2003 Heritage. About a year ago, it failed, and the dealer replaced it. I have an extended warranty (3 years). Should this one be covered? And if not, is it a pretty easy do-it-yourself replacement?

I screwed mine up when I did a internal wiring. A manual will help a lot if you have to do it yourself.

It's kinda hard to explain how to do it. There is a little copper shim that holds the switch in place. If you proceed with caution and pay attention when taking it apart you could do it without the manual.

The wires will have to be cut and new switch spliced in.

Good luck.

Resolution...

I have an extended warranty through 2007, but also a deductable, so it cost $50.

It turned out to probably be my fault. I have stock bars (FLSTCI), but have them pulled back pretty far. I have loosened the grips to rotate them to compensate for the bar position.

What seems to be happening, is that the wires would pinch at being rotated at the dimple.

Good thing that I finally got the bars where I like them...
