I think a minor mod was made to the 07-08 frames, because they went to the 96ci motor(if i'm wrong someone will correct me),the huge change came with the 09 models along with a bigger rear tire!!!
Yes, but wonder about the 1990s frame. Changes made in the 1990s? Also, is the 1995-1999 frame same as 2000?
I know 99-2000 are the same, how far back I am not sure, around 2004(ish) they changed the swingarms.
1995 and 1996 touring frames same as 2000?

Trying to find out what model year 1990s are different than 2000 and how so. Thx.

The FLH-series frames were changed beginning with the 1997 model year. The main change that I am aware of was in the seating area. The '97 and newer frames position the rider down lower in the frame and use a different seat(s) than the '96-older models.

In 1999 the FLH-series went to the 88ci Twin Cam engine. 1998 was the last year for the Evolution engine in the FLH family. I am unsure what changes were made to mount the Twin Cam engine versus the Evolution.

Changed the swing arm in 2002.
Frames were basically the same from 1979 to 1996. The Comfort-Flex seat that was available in 1979 for the FLT will fit all of the way up to 1996. The center frame separation pan in front of the rear fender is where it mounts and the same in those years. It changes when the frame was changed in 1997. There were minor changes in placement of mounting spots for things (IE.. rear brake master cylinder) but the basic frame is the same.

In 1997 the frame had major changes and most accessories for years before 1996 will not fit from 1997 up. Only the motor mounts are the same between 1996 and 1997 years.

Any accessory for 1996 and before will fit back to 1979. Most without any or just minor changes.

Looking to do aftermarket bags and rear fender on my 96 "stretched" and realizing I will have to go with a lower profile seat..... any idea on what modifications I'd have to work out. Any insight would be much appreciated
Repky #10,, no, not without alot of work, as well as money... money depends on your skill levels, and tools available..
I thought someone made an engine adapter ...or something>?
I took the bags off of my 98 Road King....anyone know where I can get side covers that fit since I have no bags anymore? Don't need the extra fiberglass. Thanks
I just bought a 97 Road King that needed an engine. I ended up finding a 91 FXR engine to swap. I pulled my motor out of the road king and noticed the mounting for the oil filter / other parts were different. What’s the difference between these to motors? Is there a lot involved in making it work?
I don't know about a RK, but most of the FXR filters are under the bike in front of the rear tire.
