Frame painting and VIN numbers, stickers

I'm powder-coating my Softail frame shortly and I'm sure that they have a process to cover the "stamped" VIN but what about those two black stickers on each of the downtubes? Should I be concerned about them? I believe one is a copy of the VIN and the other, not sure what it is at the time of this posting.

Anybody here have any experience with this?

Not sure what the correct thing to do is, but I removed both stickers when I refinished. I think it gives a cleaner look.

I recall the stickers having the frame-build-date, engine displacment, GVW, etc.

If the attachment proccess works, you should see another cleaned-up FXR frame ready for paint.
Thanks for responding, unfortunately I am unable to open the attachment to see the work.

Removing the stickers is an option, reapplying them may not. I may want to save them with the title. How did you remove them without damaging?
Dennis,
The powdercoater should be able to mask whatever you need left un-coated.

They will be sandblasting it first, masking only the stamped VIN. I am a few minutes away (waiting heat in the shed) from removing the decals with a heat gun.

Thanks boon!
Too late now, but I found I could copy the attatchment's image url from this website and post the photo. It should be viewable now.

Good luck with your build.

Tell me where, please!

Got the stickers off, not in any re-usable condition but, they are off. Figure I can just keep them with the title, or if there is some way of ordering new ones........
That's a hell of a project your taking on Man, Gonna look awesome when it's done.
The tags do not come on replacement frames from Harley Just the vin # . U would not be able to tap off the sticker when powder coating as the oven is over 400 degrees the sticker would melt . But since u took them off its a moot point anyway.
The only true VIN is the one stamped on the frame. Do not worry about the stickers. When verifing stolen property, they look at the frame, not the stickers. Anybody can make a sticker with the right equipment.
While on the subject, anybody know what the procedure is for procurring a new frame from HD? My BIL has taken in lieu of payment, a wrecked late 90's HD (no further info avail) and he wants me to rebuild it. Frame, as well as front end and tank are destroyed.

Take the frame to a dealer and wait for the MOCO to replace it?
Call a dealer and let them tell you what they need.
When they send in what ever part they send to the MOCO, make them send it dilivery confirmed and signature required so you have a record of the receipt of the frame.
