I have a 2006 Electra Glide Classic EFI with a DNA trike conversion kit. While riding the left fork came apart. The spring came part of the way out of the top.
Does anyone know why this would happen?

It wasn't put together right. Was there any front-end work done in conjunction with the conversion?

Your pic is too small to tell much. Not everyone, but you're dealing with a bunch of old farts that need nice big clear pics. About all I can see is someone's wiring nightmare.

Do you need any more cats? There are about 4 generations of black cats with white feet roaming around my neighborhood.

Oh yeah. Welcome to the Forum.

Thank you but I have 3 furbabies and 2 are black. There wasn't any front end work done, but, the pot holes here are really bad. My horn bracket broke off, numerous bolts have vibrated loose or off. It's really bad here! I believe it's either the potholes or the place that built my trike didn't do something right. I have 10,000 miles on it in the past 11 months.

Tube cap wasn’t put on correctly. While you have it apart drop some good cartridges in there like Legends. Far superior ride and handling to one spring and one oil filled.

Slow down a bit and watch out for those potholes. Nothing says you can't veer around them. Your bike will love you and make your furbabies jealous for it.

Parts breaking or vibrating loose/off is just the nature of the beast. Try to catch stuff like that during your pre-ride check. And it could be something is coming lose when you hear that noise you don't remember hearing when you started out. It only takes a short time to stop for a look. It probably won't even cost you 500 miles out of the next 10K for a closer look.

And it's a lot cheaper catching stuff beforehand than having to fix it afterwards.

Forks should be removed, rebuilt with new bushings, springs and seals.

Threads on forks and caps should be inspected.

Steering head bearings should be inspected, repacked or replaced as needed.

No shortcuts here, this is serious stuff.
