I have finally passed through the 500 mile break in period today. It was difficult to keep it at 3000 RPMs or lower and not go for extended periods at a steady speed. (What is an extended period?) I work at a paper mill, and we are having our annual outage, so spare time to ride has been at a premium.
I did twist it up to maybe 6000 RPM and it is pulling hard at that point.
The engine and transmission are working smoothly. No leaks, oil level is full, and I have not found anything that has worked loose.
The Dunlop D207 tires work great. They stick real good. I bet it will be difficult to get 10,000 miles on them before they need changing.
My only complaint is I can hear the front brake pads dragging on the rotors at slow speed.
I think I made a good choice.
