I have a 99 FLSTF and currently ride mostly local but with some trips up to 150 miles or so. I'm thinking about taking a few longer rides (500 plus miles). Anyone ride their evo softail long distance/cross country? Does the vibration drive you crazy? Are there any mods that could reduce floorboard vibration?

Thanks.

Not exactly your situation but I rode from Columbus, OH to Fort Collins, Co on a rigid mounted sportster. During that trek I had four days when I rode more thna 650 miles in a day. I did not find it much a problem at all, although the Deluxe I had now is much more comfortable. I had the following modifications with respect to comfort:

kuryakan iso grips - gel gloves help too.
Mustang touring seat - that was the most important
harleys anti vibration footpegs - they did a nice jb.

I have a 99 (Evo) Softail Custom and I have done 2 trips from Atlanta to Daytona and back. It's 500 miles each way. I don't have any complaints. The newer twin cam 88 balanced engines are smoother, but it's not life changing. You will feel a little more beaten up upon arival than someone riding a newer heritage but it's nothing a cold one won't cure.

I do 1500 to 5000 mile trips on my "93 FLSTC every year, no issues.
Windshield helps a lot for longer trips. Vibration is really not an issue.
