if the head of an exhaust valve broke off in an EVO and from continuous running made a hole in the piston large enough for this peice of vavle to fall through the piston into the crankcase area, where could it go. is there enough room in the case for the valve to be "hiding" somewhere other than on the crankshaft itself. we havent drained the oil yet in a buds bike so the case still has quite a bit of oil in it, enough that the crank cant completely be seen, but, we cant see the rest of the valve. any thoughts? bike is a 98 dyna.

Merc,
If it did not go out thru the pipe, and it is not in the flwheel area, then pop the cam cover, and it could be in the breather cavity, as that will grab debris from the flywheels very quickly. Need to make sure the pump is free of all dirt anyway. Check your PM box.
