Gotta '02 Heritage that the engine oil light comes on at idle speed. Give it a little throttle and it goes off. Changed oil and filter and it still happens. Any thoughts?

oil pressure relief valve. It's installed in the cam plate. Service manual will tell you how to remove, inspect, and clean. I would suggest a replacement with a Baisley spring, they are around 14.00. + shipping. Do a search on Baisley Spring. Good Luck
I made a temp pressure gauge with a 6" piece of 1/4" pipe, an elbow and a $15 gauge from the auto parts store.
The only bitch was removing the front exhaust header in order to get at the stock sensor and remove it.
This gave me peace of mind that the oil pressure sensor was bad and I wasn't doing any damage until I could get a replacement.
You have a temp gauge or oil pressure gauge? Not sure if you are just looking at it during idle in the garage or while riding. Oil pressure drops as the oil gets hot. Need to look at while riding, if your not.
I got the Arlen Ness one, on the back rocker. Ok, not sure how accurate, hit my leg at 1st. Gets hot.
