I'm getting ready to pull my cam cover so I can look at my cam chain tensioners. I've already got the bike up on the jack in my basement and don't want to dump oil all over the place when I pull the cover, plus I just changed the oil recently and don't want to deal with doing it again if I don't have to.

Thanks. I followed your tips and got the cover off easy, made a tray of tin foil to direct the oil into my pan, no mess at all. Except when I got the cover off and saw what was inside...I'm starting a new thread for that one.
