:dunno: Just found this 200 conversion for a Deuce on the web
Has anyone experienced this conversion as I find it difficult to belive
this fits on the stock swing arm and it looks like they use the stock
fender as well although it mentions that the thin 2006 belt is used.
I have included the link below so you can look for yourselves
Any comments

Regards Kev

Kev,

I received mine last week. So all I can tell you is that it will fit one way or another. I'm taking my time, working on it when I can. All I've done so far is mount the tire on the wheel.

I can update you before riding season.

Jerry,
I will be interested in how you find it especialy on clearance when loaded.
I looked on the Hogpro site again in their gallery (link below), and there were
several nice examples of Deuce's with the conversion. So it must be possible.
Although I do wonder why the 18" rim is used and if it alters the diameter of
the tyre when compared to the 17" or if its compensated for in the tyre profile
(ie does it affect the speedo reading).

Fatboy, yes i think it looks good and am seriously considering the conversion
for my Deuce. Just got to get the cash first. So maybe next winter.
From what people say when on the subject of fat arse conversions 200
seems to be the limit before altering handling characteristics. although I
have never ridden a 250 or 300 conversion to verify this, I would not want
to go that big any.

Hello George,
Good point, Although I don't want to knock the 18" option, as thats down to
personal choice. I also would prefer 17" rim if it could be done.
I have sent an email to hogpro asking exactly that question. I will keep you
posted.

I'm running a 180 on the rear with no problems. I did have the caliper machined a little bit to keep everything nice and centered. Still run the stock belt and both belt guards. I believe I'll be able to run a 200 with just minor work if any. Lots of guys running bigger tires and rims with the stock swingarm and fenders. Do a search and you should find plenty of reading.

Kev.. I'm interested in hearing what Hogpro has to say about the 17" wheels, so let us know what the have to say..

Joe,
:hmmm: Reply from Hogpro is below but I think the tyre availability they
mention should not be a problem now that night trains and standards come
straight from HD with a 200 x 17" for 06 models.

I'll take your advice and do some more searching.

Reply from Hogpro:
Hey Kev, We normally use an 18" wheel because there are lots of tires available for that size wheel. We can get you a Wire Spoke Wheel, Solid Wheel or any of the many Custom Design Wheels. We also have already done the fitment on all of these wheels so we know you won't have clearence issues. The diameter of the tires is very consistant so weather you ride single or 2-up won't be a problem.

Kev,
Thanks for sharing Hogpro's response, not really what I wanted to hear though.
I don't really understand why there is such a limited choice in 17" wheels. There is a company, Akront-Morad, that produces 17" laced wheels up to 5.5" width which is sufficient for a 200 tire. www.billetboys.com is supposedly the only north american dealer for them. Didn't know if you where interested in laced or not but thought I'd share.

Thanks Joe,
I am thinking of staying away from the laced wheels as I find it a real pain
to clean the one on the back of my wifes Dyna.
I don't know if it's possible but what I am thinking about now is the possibility
of fitting on the 06 standard swing arm in combination with the narrow belt
set up. Then take the Deuce 17" wheel and get it modified to 6" wide then
get it polished and chromed. then fit the 200 tyre.
Other things to consider would be the ears on the frame and maybe getting a
second hand fender and splitting down the centre and widden slightly. then
look at how it will mount on the support brackets.
If the above is possible it would give a very subtle conversion and look real
mean from the back whilst also maintaining the 17" side profile.
Does anybody know if this has been tried yet.
