Does anyone know the usual turn around for Darkhorse to do a bottom end? They have had mine for two weeks now...and no word from them yet. I dont want to call, bothering them asking..."how much longer"...if you know what I mean. I figure there are enough of you's out there using their cranks and might pass along the time frame it took.
I guess patience is a virtue...lol.
Thanks guys.

+1 on John.

Forget how long it took mine, but it was a bit more than 2-weeks and well worth the wait. Patience grasshopper.
Let us know how that patience thing works out for you. LOL
Had mine done on my first build with Hillside, but they disassembled the bottom end and sent the crank to Darkhorse. Don't remember how long it took, but it was a more than 2 weeks. You'll be happy once you have it though. I switched to gear drives this time around and everything is smooth and quiet as can be.

LOL!!

Looking like my pipe will be done in about two weeks. Then we'll tune. Then I dunno. If I switch cams, it'll be the Wood 62, RS 647 or S&S 640.

Been batty over this whole episode. Bought a vintage Honda to tinker with while I'm waiting... Dieting so not drinking... Gotta do something.

Thanks guys...I agree...patience.
@gree:
It has been two weeks as of today (Thursday) that they have had it at their shop. I know it is the busy season for them right now and everybody and their brother are probably having their bottom ends done right now. I figure that I'm somewhere on the list...my luck...pulling up the rear. I just didn't want to call and bother John...but the patience wore off today and I shot him an e-mail.
Until then all I can do is keep whistling...lol.

Well...good news guys. It's Saturday 4/14/12 and I just got my invoice from John @ Darkhorse. Not a bad wait at all...it took a little over two weeks for them to do it, and this has to be their busy season. The grand total with H-Beam rods, Timkens conversion, case boring, balance, true, plug & weld, with all new bearings, new piston jets, new cam bearings, setting ring gap, checking piston to cylinder wall clearance, and assembling the pistons and cylinders on the bottom end for me, and it ended up with a pinion run out of .0015 (basically they did the works) it all came to $2290.10 with the return shipping.
Now if Santa Claus could just over night it...lol.
And the 117"er wrenchin begins!!!

Was that cost with the pistons and cyl. ? or were they yours that you sent with the cases ?

No, the cost was for the bottom end work. I had to buy my pistons and cylinders separately. I just got the bottom end back from Darkhorse yesterday...it's a thing of beauty.
I did send my pistons and cylinders to them with my bottom end and they install them on the bottom end for me.

Yes...I went with the -1.6cc flattop (Wiseco) piston, which is a brand new designed piston made for the new style S&S 117" cylinder kit.
Darkhorse did the bottom end and set up the cylinders and pistons for me and install them on the bottom end. I sent my cylinders and pistons to them with my bottom end because Darkhorse had not seen the new cylinder yet and didn't know the exact boring measurement requirements. They suggested that I send them so they could measure them for future use in having the numbers they will needed to load into their machines for these new cylinders.
I got the bottom end back Friday and had it in the bike that night and I put everything else together today except for my cam chest and exhaust. I'm still waiting on my SE camplate to come in, to run with the new SE Hi-Flow oil pump that I bought...or I would of had it running today.
This patience thing is killing me...lol. Thought about going ahead and running the stock camplate...but the SE one is suppose to be here Monday.

Oh...porksword,
I got my S&S 117" piston/cylinder kit at dealer cost. It was $740.70. The kit included the cylinders/pistons, rings, pins, clips, Cometic .030 head gaskets, Cometic base gaskets, and a machined top center case bolt, and assembly lube. I think it retails a little over $1000.00 for the kit. Hope this helps.
Just my 2 cents...from No Cents.

117"er construction...almost done...lol.
