Hey everyone, I had a few questions sorta pertaining to this paper I have to write for school, I'm going to Georgia Tech right now. I was wondering how many of you if any, own/ride any other bikes other than Harleys, like sportbikes or anything. Let me know guys, I'd really appreciate it. I'll prolly have a few more questions after this if it isnt too much trouble, thanks a lot!

I've got 4 bikes:

- a Harley (FXDX)
- a sportbike (Kawasaki GPz750)
- a dual-sport (Kawasaki KLR250)
- an enduro (KTM 350 ex/c)

wow yea that helps a lot thanks. sorry about not saying much! im 19, and i personally prefer sportbikes because i like the manueverability, speed, and look. my mom is 48 and she has a brand new springer softail that she loves though! i would tell you what the paper is about, but honestly that would defeat the purpose of my questions...i know that doesnt make much sense, but ill explain after the next question haha. thanks for bein so friendly still though. one more question...

There are about twenty riders in my group. We usually end up with eight to twelve riders at any given ride. Of the twenty, I'd guess there are five or six Harleys and the rest are metric cruisers or metric touring bikes. There are no sport bikes, but they could join the group if they wanted to. No one in my group cares in the least what people ride, just how they ride and if they are good people or not.

I ride a 03 FLHTCUI. I ride with the local HOG club as well as with another local club that is multi brand club. I also ride with the Goldwing RR's club. Generaly most of the people I ride with are crusing or touring riders. Most likely because of our age group I don't ride with any sport bike riders. Nothing against them but they just don't care for our riding style nor do we care for theirs. If we were all in aour teens or 20's we would probably be riding sport bikes too. Being baby boomers we are past that stage and are more interested in a more laidback style of riding now. Hope that is of some help.

I ride a HD Road King and a XL 250 Honda .
I ride with the Ulysses club (50 and over club) not brand specific which is great (no Harley hype) I am also in HOG , but don't ride with them (too much Harley hype and too many cliques)

Well you guys are all really nice for helpin me out with this! and yes, all your responces helped a LOT believe me! it made my paper a lot easier to write. just for the record my paper was about whether or not there was any sort of underlying conflict between Harley riders and sportbike riders. With all your comments and ones from sportbike riders in their forum, its obvious that all riders are part of one giant community everywhere where this is virtually no conflict at all! which is comforting considering my mom has a Harley and I would much rather have a sportbike right now! Thanks again guys and gals, I really appreciate all the cooperation! Maybe ill tty all again soon!

Mirlin, I have a road king, a BMW sport tourer and a BMW dual purpose. Just sold my sport bike, a Honda F4i. I've been riding for about 40 years (damn!), I would hazzard a guess that 80-90% of motorcyclists do not care what other people ride. They often have strong feelings and opinions about a certain type of bike, but no animosity towards others. E.g. I am very biased towards cruisers/touring bikes, didn't really like my Honda. However, Have nothing against those who ride other types and enjoy riding w/ them.

What I don't appreciate is inexperienced (or experienced) riders, of any age, who ride like a$$holes and give all of is a bad name. This includes some sport bike riders as well as some Harley riders.

I enjoy

the sport of motorcycling, and thus see value with most makes and models. Variety makes motorcycling more interesting and enjoyable to me. I ride a number of makes and have models from Harley, Ducati, BMW and Honda.

I don't ride in groups very often, but often have family or close friends with me.

Believe the majority of motorcyclists are responsible, considerate of others, and appreciate the diversity of the sport. There is a minority who are more close minded about makes they don't happen to ride and/or don't care much if their rides (very loud pipes) or riding style (squidly actions) bother others.

Here's my two cents worth...... For the most part, I ride a Harley alone. Most of the miles accumulated on my HD's have been while riding alone. A few nights a week a group of guys meet and go on a big triangle ride from Mass thru RI, stop and eat in Conn and return home, a trip of about 100 miles, 60+ thru helmet-less states. Occasionally I and a couple others remove them. Only a couple 20 - 30 y/o riders occasionally accompany us. Predominently Harley-Davidson Sportsters, Deuces, Dynas and baggers. Couple of Asian bikes ridden by older guys with us every week. Non-drinking crowd. We ride interstate type roads and a few of the guys, including the oldest at 60+ y/o, really get on the throttle!
For the most part, I think you will find that the Asian bike crowd feels very inferior to the Harley crowd and shoot their mouths off about how much better their bikes are compared to HD, we won't wave to them, etc. You can find this in the forum at cycleworld.com. I very seldom hear HD owners bashing the other rides. I probably hear more bashing of the riders!
