There's another very good self-healing saga too, about a guy who was subjected to multiple electro-shock "treatments". It's called 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'. The guy rolls up many miles, surreal miles.

That book is a classic example of what happens when you over think. You get a free trip to JiffyLobo.

Yep. That's a classic. Remember when those were in the bookstore right beside all the mechanical service manuals?

Since you mention "Zen..." you should read "Zen and Now". It's a more recent book by a guy who retraced Pirsig's route as closely as possible, even camping in the same spots or staying at the same motels. Not as "cerebral" as the original but quite interesting in how things have changed along the route....or not, since then. More of a motorcycle travel book than the original. Apparently retracing the route is fairly often done these days.

Hey, how about you get your knee #3 all better and do that trip on Rosie?

DAMMIT Jim! I'm working hard here to preserve your reputation but you ain't helping much.

You remind me of my brother- he called me once from on the road. He was Sgt at Arms (I think that's the title. He was the club cop/enforcer for his Veteran's Club.) He was on his way to straighten out some interloper for some rule-breakage.

I asked him why he was on an official club mission in his car (a Ford Escort, yellow no less). He said it was too cold to ride.

LOL He got offended when I laughed but appreciates the picture now, and we both still laugh about it.

Sounds like the gauntlet has been thrown down.
Is that the soggy sounding, limp-wristed "splish" I heard?

That'll be tough when she's sold.

Maybe you could start a very close cousin club.

My 2003 FXDX which is a very close cousin to the FXR

Well, in my eyes, the closest cousin to the FXR would be the FLT Tour Glide, originally from 1979, and run until sometime in the early 90’s. The FXR frame is based on the Tour Glide, albeit with a sportster front end.
There is really nothing Dyna that comes close.

If I have to explain FXR, you wouldn’t understand!

Well... personally, I'm an optimist by nature, but I'm a pessimist by policy.
