I have a Magnetti-Marelli equipped 2001 RK and am considering whether it would be worthwhile to convert it over to the Delphi system. I'd really like to hear from someone who has done it or tried it. Thayer sales offers a wiring harness and a fuel rail mod that makes the MM tank work with it but its a hefty chunk o' change just for the wiring. If I could come up with the key components second hand for a decent price I might be able to do it. The main pieces are the aforementioned harness, the throttle body, the coil and the ECU.
I'm not having major trouble with the MM, I would like to be able to use an auto tuner tho.
And no....I'm not interested in a carb conversion, thanks.

Have you considered the carb conversion with new or almost new take off parts? Only the wiring harness and the Pingel tank kit is required new. Might be a lot cheaper

Panolio!

Panolio has done this and added the T-Max with Autotune. I'd suggest searching his posts and maybe shooting him a PM.

Why? If it works, don't fix it. you could be opening a can of worms. There should be a real reason for the change, like you are going to do a killer build. Talk to Steve handy about it. He gets a lot of power out of his and he is a dynotune specialist.

I have done exacly what you are asking about on my 1999 ultra. I did it peacemeal by buying the throttle body a ecu and race tuner and coil on ebay. I used a hd efi wireing harness for a 2002 p/n 70233-02 about 272.00 there are a few changes in the plug to the main wire harness. not many. It would be best to get the wireing diagram for your bike and for a 2002 to check the pin out changes in the plug. My advise is forget the hd ecu if you want a self tuner I ended up with a dtt ecu to get what I wanted.

I plan to get the DTT/WegO unit and that way I can play with maps and also have it tune itself so that (hopefully) I can avoid dyno time forever.
I intend to make many changes to the build but not all at once; the DTT should make this feasible. Thayer Sales will provide the base map for the DTT. He's the guy who does the harness and other bits for the swap.
On the 2001 I can't run a stock ECM because of the TSSM that these bikes have. The Bank Angle Sensor has a problem with the factory ECM that won't let the bike run.
