I seen a few posts that compared/talked about tires, but were on various bikes etc...

Rear tire:
So for this conversation, lets keep it specific to Electra Glides (with the new/heavier frame) which has the stock Dunlop 407 tire.

So for the 407 (rear tire) on the newer framed EG's, what are you getting for miles ?

And have you tried other tires and what were the results ?

replaced the oem rear tire last yr with around 18,000 on it. Probably could have done better if I kept an eye on the pressure more often.

I replaced it with a American Elite and hope to get that much if not more out of it.

front tire did much better with 25,000 or so...but that's OT.

I have a 09 Electra Glide, I just replaced my stock front tire with 28,000 miles on it. Rear went 22,000 both were NOT to wear bars. Both were Factory supplied. I replaced like with like , I have never put that kind on miles on any motorcycle tire before... I run 40 psi in front 42 rear

2010 Limited, changed both factory tires out at 18,000 miles with the same. Rear was good for another 2 or 3 thousand, front probably good for 10,000 more. But it was the end of the season and I like changing them out as a set.

I replaced the OEM tires on my 09 EG at 9,800 miles with OEM Dunlops. The rear was just past the wear bars, the front almost there and "very" cupped. The second rear was replaced at 19,700, again worn past the wear bars and flattened. The second front is still on at 21K+ but will need changed soon. No cupping on this 408 front. The second replacement rear, and soon to be installed front, are Dunlop American Elites.
So it appears I can count on around 10K for a rear and 12-13K for a front. I'm very happy with this milage.

Just replaced the rear on my '09 Ultra. Had 21K on it and probably could have went another 2-3 because it wasn't to the wear bars yet. I run 40 psi in it, check it often and the wife and I together, weigh less than 275 lbs.
