Need a little "HELP" recently began to have problems with the clutch on my 1985 FXRS. While sitting at idle (AFTER REACHING NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE), with the bike in gear, the clutch begans to go away, EXCESSIVE PLAY DEVELOPS IN THE LEVER, as soon I began to ride the problem seems to go away. After a few hours when the bike has cooled, I fine the clutch lever has returned to the normal 1/8-1/4 free play and the clutch works just fine until the engine get hot again. Mileage on the clutch is around 10,000, primary oil just changed, friction and drive plates were checked and found to be within specs.
Any ideas on how to correct the problem?

Roger48,
Preparing to pull the clutch apart soon with the help of the local H-D service manager, will keep you posted. Thanks for the reply.

Roger48,

Solved the problem, turned out to be the diaphram spring. Installed a new Screaming Eagle spring and cured the problem.
The answer came from Kent at Energy One.
