Just pick up my 2003 custom on Friday. First Harley I ever owned. Clamp holding the clutch on left handlebar came loose on the way home from the dealer (2 allenhead screws). I tightened them up when I got home. After another short ride (12 miles) became loose again. Is this a common problem due to vibration? It would seem that that should never happen.

Haven't had that problem, I even loosened and changed the angle on mine. Sounds like a drop of loctitie would cure it though. (I know, it's the principle, brand new bike shouldn't have to do that.)

I had the same problem in May with my new 2002 1200 XLC. With only 20 miles on the bike the clamp on the right side vibrated loose. Thinking back to when I picked up my bike I noticed at the dealer that the new bikes are shipped crated, the dealer has to place these units on the handlebars after they are unpacked. I did put Loctite on all the screws on the left and right side and tighten securely.
It also taught me to keep star bits in my fork bag.

Enjoy your ride........
