Soak the chain in the solution for about 15 minutes, then scrub with an old toothbrush or stiff brush to remove any dirt and grime. I use Mogul. Goes on like WD and penetrates the rollers and dries sticky. Suitable for o-ring chains

I'm a bit skeptical that a lukewarm mix of warm water and vinegar would act a solvent for grease in a chain. As I recall, the old-time HD service manuals recommend cleaning the chain with gasoline, and then soaking it in motor oil or even axle grease that's been heated to make it melt some. After the chain has soaked up some of that grease, wipe it down with a clean cloth. Of course, it probably wouldn't be good to heat up chains that have rubber O-rings...
