They are looking at places to hold it outside of the downtown area... but it is all up in the air right now.

Well... things are looking better but still unresolved:

People vote their pocketbooks and politicians know this. Boycott Hollister & let the local merchants raise hell at city hall account of lost revenue. We don't need Hollister and their merchants depend on our annual cash cow. I suspect Hollister would have a whole new attitude for '07 if we blow 'em off in '06.`
I'm tired of seeing communities and organisers take us for granted. If, as a community, bikers show some solidarity & dicipline we could quickly train some of these offenders.
Interesting take on this. If the City of Hollister does not oficially sponsor an event and a whole bunch of bikes show up any way then the city can call in for mutual law enforcement assistance from othe cities to handle a "crisis" and not get stuck footing the bill for all the LEO overtime. Hmmmm.

Yeah, then if say, 1% of us get a little bit rowdy we'll be famous!

??????????
show up without a rally...and don't spend money

The city council WANTS everyone to blow Hollister off. They don't think more than a few thousand people will show up. If there's a big turnout and the city DOESN'T make money they may put the event back into place for '07. Show up and spend some time at Johnny's or Whiskey Creek!
Screw all rallies.
I am tired of the scalping and the high prices. If Hollister does not want us, screw them.
Went through Laughlin last year. Bought a T-shirt in Oatman from a local shop. Screw Dal-Con, they didn't get a dime from me.
But as long as we put up with it the prices will be high and their will always be a place to go.
Rant off.
Sorry, but there are better places to go in CA than Hollister. Visit a National park, ride the coastal highway, do the gold highway, Napa valley, Redwoods, all with better prices and better scenery than Hollister.
This is embarassing. We must look desperate to these people, treat us like crap & we come crawling right back.
Would you let another person treat you like that??
***** whipped bikers.
Lookie here, I'm Hollister's bitch!!!.
Gimme a fukkin break.
I went to laughlin last year and I have to say what a RIP OFF. I rode in and it was a parking lot, so I hung around for an hour, drank a $6.00 soda and left.

The police chief hates that rally and really the town does a lousy job of hosting it, but boy they like the hundreds of thousand of dollars it brings in every year. I mean what a deal - treat the people like crap and make a lot of money.

:hystria: Very good!:hystria:
I could almost care less... I've been to a Reno, Hollister, Laughlin, Palm Springs, etc. and they bore me after the first hour.

Though, I do think it's a bit lame to try to kill "the rally that started it all". Some people do like going to these events and it's a shame if the town kills it.
Well, I like tradition and I like a destination to ride to. It seems a shame to kill a nice place to get off to.

I am not one for crowds, but I do like riding and hooking up with people on the way to a common locale. It is always good to look at the bikes, but then I am gone... hate lines.... hate congestion.... hate fat ugly women (not personally, just to look at). This may not be PC, but that is another story.
Did the 50th with Manny at Hollister. I suppose I would be inclined to do the 100th but I'll be dead so what the folks do with their town is their business I guess.

Officially- Dead

Looks like the city council made their final decision to kill the rally for 2006.

I agree with the rest, I went to Hollister's 50th. If they don't want us, don't go. No money for their local economy should hurt, of course, that is if everyone can find a better location to ride to. Laughlin is also a joke, if I didn't love to gamble, I'd have absolutely no use for the run. Blowing off this year at Laughlin, avoiding the high priced rooms they gouge all the bikers with. Someone said they like having a destination to ride to, well make up your own ride.
