Chopsticks... They Ain't Just For Eat'n

So, there I was, probably like quite a few others here. Was changing fluids and decided while I was at it I might as well pull the primary cover off and swap out that damn manual chain adjusting contraption with an automatic. Things went well... then came time to put the cover back on and keep the gasket in place all at the same time. Not so easy without the proper tools.

I looked all over for something to stick in 4 or 5 holes to hold the gasket in place and came up with nothing. Everything I found was either too big or too small and I wasn't about to go digging for some bolts to cut the heads off of. Decided to take a break and opened the fridge for a cold one and there it was like a bright light in the night! Leftover Chinese. The search was on!

Running through the kitchen like a mad man, stopping only briefly to quench my thirst, I prayed there would be extra Chinese utensils in the silverware drawer. BINGO!!! A brand new set of genuine MOCO chopsticks. Got those puppies to the garage and cut them into manageable lengths. They fit the holes like they were made for the job.

Now, I'm not a big Chinese food fan, but I will never again complain when the wife wants me to go out in the dead of night to pick the stuff up for her.

Funny thing, people used to make fun of me for keeping a hair rubber band (for pony tails and the like) around my wrenches to keep them all together. Now its the rave :). They are alot more durable than a simple rubber band.
I've done stuff like that many times over the years! It's such a relief when what seems like a crazy idea actually works! :woohoo:
LOL yeah I cut up my wifes nylon cutting board and made a primary locking tool out of it. The good part was that she was OK with it.

LOL, I used to get busted using kitchen utensils in the garage all the time. Something about her pampered chef stuff was sacred.....

They got no sense of humor when you start using their measuring spoons and cups for weed killer....
(From personal experience)

Or using one of those neat turkey baster/injector needles for removing brake fluid from the resevoir to do a fluid change. I cleaned it out when I was done
Great ideal.... thanks for the inspiration!!!
Were they the SE chopsticks or the regular ones?
Turkey Baster

Turkey Baster works great for getting those fluids out if you overfill.... although the next turkey tastes a bit like Amsoil after you sneak it back in the drawer it came from.

To be honest, that's one of the things I was thinking of while studying the situation, but I knew we didn't have any around.

HOLY CRAP!!! You messed with the Pampered Chef stuff??? What the hell were you thinking???
Ok, someone ask me what I'm doing here at 7am on New Year's day posting stuff... sober at that. No, on second thought you don't want to know.

I will say it had absolutely nothing to do with my choice of tools.

BTW, does anyone know off-hand what size socket fits the fork tube caps on a Super Glide?

You can buy a pak of about 50 at the grocery store. Damn if they don't come in handy...

It seemed like a good idea at the time. You know how the male brain works. No though about how it will affect things later :)
