[2002 Big Sport]

Hello fellow Harley Sportster owners, I have question because I have never experienced the “Champagne Cork” experience that I am having with my bike. When I start my bike and ride it for about three or four minutes, the dip stick in the oil reservoir will pop out of it under pressure like a cork! If I leave the bike idle for about a minute and then check the dipstick and remove it, there is pressure that has built up and it sounds like a Champagne bottle having pressure released. Anybody know how to fix this and/or what causes it? Thanks for the time and help; 2002 Big Sport

Possible that you oil may be over-serviced.

Thank you 93Horse, I do not believe that the Oil is over serviced, and I checked the level of the oil in the reservior and it just comes up to the tip of the dipstick. This is a good one. 2002 Big Sport

Your umbrella valves in the rocker boxes are getting old and brittle. They are letting a little air into your crankcase. it's an easy fix. check out:
