My dad has a 99 Classic. Couldn't find/justify an Ultra at the time.
Now he wants to add a CB/Intercomm to communicate with his group.
Harley dealer quoted and outrageous price ($3000 i think).

Does anyone here know of anyone having done this retrofit (either through a dealer or on their own)?
Any experience/advice would be appreciated.

From what I understand, the Ultra CB radios are hard to get and have to work with the stereo in the bike. You may be better off buying a compact CB radio from Cobra, Midland or Uniden that have all the controls on the hand-held microphone. You can then get a handlebar mounted microphone holder and a stereo-CB-in-one antenna. I've seen this done numerous times and it works.

You can buy the CB intercom unit from Harley, then send your radio in for the modifications. Seems like the whole deal is about 500 bucks, damn sure not 3K.

Sometimes you can find a totalled Ultra of the same year. You can buy them from insurance companies.

The best ones have bent frames and a lot of glass damage, Then you can use all the parts you need for whatever and you end up with a spare engine and gearbox.
