I am offering to the members of this forum the oppertunity to rent the tools needed to replace the cams and inner and outer bearings of their TC motors.
The price for rental is $50.00 deposit plus shipping. Upon return of the tools you will get back $15.00. For a total cost of $35.00, of which $5.00 goes to DPrice for the upkeep and costs of running this forum.
I will take either money order or PayPal.
The tools include:
JIMS® TWIN CAM 88" CAMSHAFT REMOVER AND INSTALLER
JIMS® TWIN CAMtm CAM AND CRANK SPROCKET LOCK TOOL
TWIN CAM 88 CAM BEARING INSTALLER AND REMOVER
2 EVO Tappet Block Alignment Tools for Aligning the Oil Pump

It does not incude the Cam Chain Tensioner Tool, a pair of channel lock plierers and allen wrenches will work for holding the chain tensioners in place.
You must have or acces to a press to use these tools. There is NO need to us a hammer on any of these tools.

To rent these tools e-mail me at [email protected] .com I will post who is getting the tools in the order in which they are requested.
Donot rent these tools if you are not ready to use them. The time limit for rental is one week. It only takes about 1 hour to change out the cams and bearings once you have the cam cavity opened up.

I am doing this to help out the fellow riders on this board. PLEASE donot disapoint me or other members who might want to take advantage of this offer by not returning the tools when done.

Thank You,

I just might take you up on the offer. That is one great service to all as long as no one Fk’s it up. I am planning on changing over to the gear drive from S&S and Andrews cams when I change mine. Would there be any other tools I would need for that.

hd2000fxdl: no other tools needed. I put on the gear drive with just these tools. But as stated you will need access to a press.

How common is it that the cam chain tensioners go out on the twin cam motors. My dealer said they are not having any problems with this. The shop I take the bike to said there is a big problem. The material from the tensioners went through the oil pump and ruined it, then the piston skirts (KB's) collapsed due to heat making this a very expensive repair job. This happened with 40,000 miles on a 2000 road king. Is there no legal class action suite? This is the first time I have ever used this forum (or any other) if I am not using this correctly please let me know

I have used the Twin Cam cam clearancing tool from Zippers HDWrench, I actually own one. But I only used it once. And that was on an early 99 RK for some woods 590's. Since then it seems like the company decided to make enough room. I did 116 B and ran 260's without any problems, may just be the ones I am working on.
