I've got a gremlin that has me stumped. Running done the road the bike will flutter like your hitting the kill switch and then die. The whole system will be dead. After chasing everything down and checking again and again I'm finding that if I unplug the head light everything is fine. All the wiring to the switches and headlight are good and not shorts. As soon as I plug in the light all three prongs show a ground.

Any thoughts???

Just a thought..........
The plug has a ground for the return. When you plug in the bulb into the plug, you are connecting both the low and high beam to ground, thru the bulb. Thats why you have continuity to ground. Check both hot leads to chassis ground with an ohm meter and wiggle the wires. You basically stated the problem is in the headlight circuit. Do this with battery disconnected.
