I recently purchased my first Harley ('07 Street Bob). I am looking to make some upgrades to it. Question number one: What are the best pipes, from a performance and aesthetic point of view? I've heard D&D, Thunderheader, and Vance and Hines, as far as brands. Most seem to recommend 2:1 pipes.

Now I turn to you, and the collective knowledge of the forum, what's best?

All those you mention are very good pipes that will deliver close results.
We just got the AKRAPOVICH pipes at the shop, they look real nice with very professional finish.
I have yet to install and try them on the Dyno.

I think you have made some good choices already. Maybe add the supertrapp to your list, it performs well and is very tunable for where you want your power band to be, however some guys don't like the appearance of the discs.

I love the sound/look/performance of the V&H bigshots staggered on my bike. They have a power chamber crossover for low end torque like the 2 into 1 pipes.

Would they melt if your 'power chamber' was removed?
Applied in a spiral pattern would look good too....
I'd like to have the 'fully customized' look ....and there may be others too......

In the words of Foghorn " I say I say I do believe the are a bustin' your fully customized balls son" Anybody knows you need a coolin chamber to run LED's that close to pipes. Specially if you're goin to start it.

And to that note I must add. The strips will melt too. Not to mention the strops.
