Going to do my cams this winter and switching over to gear drives. The S&S kit comes with torrington for the inners and Nachi 6004 for the outer. Are these Nachi the best bearings to use or are there better ones out. Seem easy enough to switch them befiore they go in. Thanks
Paul
I actually was not questioning the success of the kit really, was more wondering on the bearing since its a name i didn't reconize and i wanted to determine if S&S had switched bearings in the kit. Needed more of a clarifaction on that issue.
Snowman, exactly what i was looking for. I agree with LAF on the compeonets working but like you stated bearings are cheap insurance.
The names i am most familar with are Timkin and SKF. I am wondering if anybody has switched away from the nachi bearing. I really just want to put the best bearing in the motor since the cams are so critcal.

Hog, I agree but i wanted to clarify that S&S has been putting the nachi in the kits along and didn't make a recent switch . One other question- Does the intstruction explain how to adjust the gear lash so its with in specs? Have not cracked open the destrutions yet.
