Hey all. I took the MSF beginner course this past weekend, and it was WELL worth the time. I had ridden dirt bikes and a couple street bikes (i.e. crotch rockets) for a total of about 2 years worth of experience. (gimme a break, I'm only 23, and just out of college) But the amount i knew, which was basically how to ride like an idiot, was totally changed with the class. Proud to say i only hit one cone (bike malfunction) and only missed one question on the written test. I can finally ride a bike legally :) For all who haven't taken it, you should. the class really was awesome, and those little 250s, although slow, are pretty fun just to mess around in. and you can even pop wheelies with 'em. (not that I would know from experience ;) )

Now for the really great news..... Talked to the dealer today, my bike is in, but missing an emblem. He ordered the part yesterday, said it should be in and done by thursday, or at the latest, tuesday. So within a week, I will be picking up a brand new 2003 H-D Fatboy. I know that with the current dealings between H-D and this site, that not too excited for me... But I am exstatic (sp). Just wanted to share my great news. Now I just gotta find some fun roads and some people to cruise with that will help me with my newbie idiotic problems that I will invariable suffer from :)

See ya all on the road!!!

Welcome Teke963,

I have to agree with you on the course two thumbs up, here too. Too bad you're not closer I'd go riding with you.

At least you'll have your ride in time for the party next year. The FatBoy is a good choice, but I wonder about that missing emblem, if it's like those discount parts; if it didn’t fall off on it own. I have a hard time thinking it left York without an emblem. Oh well at least you are getting your bike soon. I think a lot regarding the MoCo is really just frustration on how some Dealer act. I had a great experience, and can see the MoCo point regarding copyright and the board, but since changes were made maybe we can all get along now.

I wouldn’t mind opening an on line store for official H-D parts on line. If the MoCo objected to advertisers on the board they maybe willing to offer their parts and accessories to one of us to sell to board members. I'd offer on line discounts like some Dealers do and they would have another outlet for there parts and accessories. So maybe that would help H-D accept this BB, don’t know but it could be fun too.

Congrad.s I am looking forward to getting mine in April of 2003. It is a 2002, will be delivered to the states, and can't see it until I get out of the Army. The safety course is my first order of business when I get out. Waited 32 years to own a Harley. I bet I'm just as excited as you. Ride safe and enjoy. J.T.

Teke963,
I'm with VA V-Rod. The MSF course is an excellent instrctional tool to teach a new rider (and sometimes so called good riders) how to ride and do it safe. Glad to hear you did so well, I bet it's because you've been riding dirt bikes. I'm going to buy my son a beef'd up version of a dirt bike for Christmas. In my opinion dirt riding teaches you many things but moving to street is all different -- gota watch out for the cagers.
Whoo-Waaa! Getting your bike next week, that's great news. Like VA V-Rod said, if you lived closer I'd go riding with you "BUT" I don't have my bike yet.
If you get a chance let us see some pics of your new bike.

Teke963,
Congrats, on the now legal riding and the new bike! I wish mine where here, only 37 more very long days to wait! If it comes on time that is. Hopefully we have a warm fall and I will get a couple months of riding in yet. Wish I had not sold my old bike already :(

Thanks for the congrats all.

The dealer is being absolutely wonderful with me... I am very pleased. At the moment, he actually , believe it or not, has my name on two '03 fatboys in gunmetal. One is carb., one is FI. He told me I can have either one. (but made sure to tell me I can't have both) And the crazy thing is that I got my name on the list a couple weeks ago. I talked to the guy the week before the '03s came out, and he didn't have any '02 fatboys available, So he told me to call him in a couple weeks. Called him, and he put me at the top of the list for the '03s that weren't spoken for. And the best part is I'm paying MSRP. plus I think a $600 destination charge and taxes and stuff. Not sure exactly what the final balance will be, but I'll be sure to let everybody know. The dealer is Oaklawn H-D in Oaklawn, IL in case anyone wants to check it out. They sell all their bikes at MSRP no matter what. The salesman (Mike) is really cool.

VA-VROD, I was kinda wondering about that emblem as well. But he assured me that they were getting one from the factory and everything, and he even said there is no way he would let the bike out of the store or put it on the showfloor without that emblem, so it doesn't sound too bad.

PS. The pics will definately be taken as soon as I get the bike :)
