Regrets?
Only when I’m running late (always) and someone holds me up to ask me 20 questions about my rig (always).
I was on the Golden Gate Bridge today and a guy came up to me on a Hiabusa. He gave me a big thumbs-up and then started doing the bowing/I’m not worthy thing (at 60mph).
A new 911 turbo tried to get a closer look. I left him wondering.
My woman thinks it’s the Bomb.
Other guy’s women think it’s the Bomb.
Guys on Yamazukis hate me - Priceless.
Shall I go on?

I love the bike! Compared to the modifications I would need to do at most other Harleys in order to be satisfied, there is quite little that I find that I need to do on the V-Rod. Change the exhaust, that is, in my view, a needed first step. That makes other bike-owners stop babbling about how quiet and "socially responsible" the sound is (or perhaps they are still babling, but you cannot hear them with the rumbling engine

No way! Every time I ride the thing I marvel what HD has created. Its totally different from any thing HD has every done or produced, and I've had 7 various motorcycles from a HD Badboy to Suzuki crotch rockets , been riding for 28 years. The VROD handles great, is so smooth, runs like a bat outa hell for a twin configuration, steering input is precise and very easy to control, suspension is quite compliant, and it looks so damn BAD! I painted mine black a month after I got it, I got a thing for black and the VROD looks so BAD black, it really complements the lines of the machine. I predict right now HD will offer them in black eventually. Everywhere I go, people coment about it. I was in the French Quarter in New Orleans and this old school biker who owns a road king classic waved me aside, wanted to take a good look and tell me "that thing is so BAD!" People at work love it. Yes, if you don't like attention or answering questions, or you just broke out of jail, then the VROD isn't the motorcycle for you. My other bike is a 2000 Titan Pheonix ZRM, black of course with some mods, and it's getting neglected, gathering dust. Guess I should just sell it. My only complaint about the VROD is HD should have stuck with the 28 tooth front pulley they were planning for North American models instead of the 30/72 tooth European gearing for all, its just a bit too tall. Taking off from dead stop requires too much clutch slipping for my taste and would really help the 0-60 accelleration times. I want a 28 tooth front pulley bad. But I have no regrets about plunking down my hard earned cash for this one boys........

If I could I'd buy another one for the OL, fantastic bike. Runs great, handles well and looks, like everyone who has one can tell you people will follow you and stop you at traffic light to talk to you about it. Once a traffic light I had two people in different car talking to me light turned green and they still wanted to talk, but the strangest thing no one beeped there horns, I think they all were listening to the conversation.
Not for those in the witness protection program, you’ll get way too much attention. And I can tell when Discovery runs there V-Rod program the next day everyone is pointing and asking me about it, got to love it.
And like others said there isn't much more you can do to it, even stock. I did do the chrome stuff route but that is me.

The bike is much faster than I expected. (However the lean angle is less than I expected. ) The attention is far greater than I expected. The overall enjoyment of riding this bike however is far more than I had hoped for. No offense to the RKC, but I know, for myself, I made the right choice, and haven't looked back since the first mile.
VRD, actually I really waivered about buying an RKC after putting down my deposit. I had never even sat on the VR, and I was worried that I would be disappointed, you so often are if you get your expectations up too high. I am so glad I stuck with my decision.VRodDrew said:

OK, somebody's got to say it...

The suspension, although not bad, is not as forgiving as my other ride..a BMW with telelever/paralever suspension, and we have our share of pot holes...
The brakes again not bad, but when you're used to having them linked and wth second/third generation ABS, you miss it
Finally, not strictly a bike complaint, but I bought the hard saddle bags, which looked great in the pics, and promised to be useful, turned out to be small and flimsy for what you'd expect to get for £900.
Well, I still had the seat replaced, coolant pipe braided, touring shield etc. and cant for the life of me, talk myself into selling it...I love the ride, get into quite a melancholy mood cruising...hmm.

Where I hail, it's crawling with Bimmers. Most of them are nice folks but I always seem to run into that jealous wanker that has to wax on about "my R150 brakes intuitively, does yours?"
At which time I politely vomit on his/her Gucci loafers.
Sell the hog and buy yourself some matching BMW luggage.

The bike that I had before the V-ROD was a Honda RC-51. Great bike. I can not tell you how much I loved that bike
until I bought the V-ROD. The V-ROD is as fast as the RC-51----- I think. And as far as the sound, my bike is getting louder everyday and I love the unique sound of it. If I want the traditional sound I"ll buy a Road King.

Harley suspensions are notoriously poor compared to others, try progressive suspension springs/shocks.
The brakes are as good as, if not better than the brakes on any scooter. Antilock brakes are a marketing gimmick.
Saddle bags, well, buy what look good and you like.
