I'd rather have the extra ponies, nobody says you gotta twist that grip any farther than you want to. Besides, HP can get you OUT of trouble faster also. I always try to stay in the "meat" of the powerband just in case I need to goose it quick to avoid a hazard.
And speaking of Colorado, Telluride has been one of my favorite places on Earth for about 20 years now, even though it's changed a lot. Then, of course, there's that ride down the Million Dollar Highway into Silverton...

Haven't rode the D&S yet even though I'm a huge railroad buff. Maybe next time.
Sparta is in Sussex county up in farm and horse country. Great roads up here

I collect O gauge trains also. Keeps me sane during the winter when I can't ride. Are you on the OGR furum? I'm Dean over there although during riding season I only poke my nose in maybe once or twice a month

Wow, sounds like a great trip. For all the bad press, I still think Amtrak is a great ride. I've done Florida a few times and The Broadway Ltd once. Have a great trip. I think I might just take you up on that TCA sponsership
