I'm just about done with my latest mods. Here is a few pics of what a Road King looks like without the crash bar or foot board things. This is with custom made forward controls. Also, you notice there is no horn, it's been replaced with a Sebel air horn.

Still waiting on a new air cleaner and the exhaust parts to come back from the powder coater.

Looks great, man! I really like the clean left side. And at least I'm not the only one to leave the stock seat on my Custom. But what do I know, I also have the stock handle bars and love them both!

Looks great man!

Lose the "wind in your face deflector"! Just my opinion, but it will look a lot better without it.

And, you'll also notice how much wind that thing actually pushes into your face

Looks pretty clean! Are you relocating the plate? Or just getting the bar powder coated?

You should think about getting some FLHX wheels. They would fit your black them nicely. If you thought it was a good idea, you could check around and you might actually find someone to simply trade with you. A couple of guys did here and each bike looks pretty good!

Thanks for the thoughts guys....I'm getting very happy with the look.

I still have to finalize my license plate location. Right now I'm thinking it will go under the left side saddle bag since my exhaust only comes out the right side.

I have one of the hyperchargers coming that is all black to try that look. I didn't plan on that, wanted to find a black stock cover but kept getting killed on ebay.

All I know is that when I bolted the stock chrome one back on it looked like it was three feet across...:puke:

I like the look very much. Great job.

I can visualize a solo seat, too. (My wife has her own scoot and won't ride behind me.)

I have a painted round (evo style) air cleaner cover I would be willing to part with. It isn't black, but it would be easy to paint. Let me know if you are interested.

Think I figured out the license plate issue. I'm going to recycle the stock license plate bar that I cut off of the bike. I'm going to weld it to the stock muffler hanger from the left side and mount it to the rear of the saddle bag support.

Michael, looks good. to me the bike is begging for a blacked out front end. What do you think? Agree with the recomendatin to loose the wind deflector at the top of the headlamp. Would make the bike look longer without it.

Also I got my stebel horn in the other day but have not yet put it on. Looking forward to less cowbell (as in no cowbell). Cool bike dude.

Thanks to everyone.....

Pipes are on, waiting on HyperCharger to come in...But I may end up just making a small black cover for the air cleaner, leaving the element exposed. It never rains here in Houston after all....*TIBS*

A few questions...

Very nice! We have extremely similar tastes.

Are those Chubby 509's? If so, how much over stock did you need to go on your clutch and throttle cables? How durable is the powder coating on the bars (so far)?

Do you have anything written up (here or elsewhere) on relocating the turn signals from the bars? Anything you'd do differently with that?

Who did you use to have your pipes coated? Jet-Hot?

Did you ever get any feed back on that internal throttle?

TIA!

Thanks much.

The bars are from Drag. They are the Tattoo Series Engraved 1 1/4" bars. I'll measure the cables this afternoon and add that info.

All of my coating, including the exhaust is done by a friend of mine in Louisiana. His business is mostly industrial, but he's a hot rodder so he's been doing a lot of bike, car, and boat stuff over the last few years. Very good work and fast turn around.

I never got any feed back on the internal throttle. I still want to do that. I might just order the unit and see what happens.

For the front directionals, I went to the hardware store and bought a stud. I screwed the stud into the lower nacel mounting hole, added a back-up nut, and screwed the light to the stud. Very simple deal. I have a couple of photos here.... http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69166

Never seen a blacked out RK. Something differant. Stands out. IMO maybe change the bags for something leather looking. Though they are aerodynamic and blend into fender. Pipes are cool.

Hope you don;t regret removing crash bars, I know I would about 10 times by now, literally.
