I have relocated for those of you that I have offended. I am putting 95" cyclinders with keith black piston's. Does anyone have any sugestions a to what cam to use. I was told to use screaming eagle 203 or 204 cam. And how much horse power will I be getting from the 95" and the cams. I'll run a screaming eagle ignition and coil. I have a 2001 FXST with paul yaffee pip's, arlen ness bigsucker kit, dyojet, and power cones.

thanks

No. Because I have been quoted 750 for ported heads with some polishing and 1200 for head quarters heads. I was told that I would get 2 horse power for the port and minor polishing, I didn't think it would be worth it.

I did a 95" with no headwork (SE Flattops/203) and was getting 78hp/92 TQ. Well, I wasn't that happy with the Hiway Passing power (two-up at 80 mph) . The 203's pulled good low but dropped off real fast so I put in TW37G and sent my heads off to Charlie's ($395). Should get them back this week. A 95" with cams but without Head Porting is like half the job (from what I read). The dealers don't tell you that though when you get it done!

The local harley shop said two horse power for porting and polishing. Now I was told by someone that they don't even do any polishing and they are charging $750.

:whisper: 2hp from headwork!! whoever told you that is an idiot!!! you should get a minimum of 20hp increase w/ good headwork. there is a bunch of places that can get you up to 100hp/100tq w/ no problem. just look around!!!

You can get SE perfromance heads for $600 from Zanotti's HD , I did . AS far as increases go look at HD's own psuedo dynos in thier SE catalog or the HD tech forum or nightrider sights there are a number of examples of bike with a variety of heads. With 95/ head work and decent cams you should certainly be looking at around high 90's low 100's depending on your combination.

On another forum, a builder just went from a stock head gasket to a .030 and did some mild head work, on an already built 95" motor with mild cams. He got about 5 hp and 5 ft.lbs. torque increase over what he had before. Not bad. Probably noticeable. He thought the lower end was helped by the thinner gasket and the upper end by the head work.

The term "polishing" I think is miss qouted, you do not increase flow with mirror polished chambers or ports. You need a nice texture in the port area, porting can mean anything from one place to another. In terms of what we do here to another is going to vary, as will price. Hard to beat having your heads ported. I have seen the low prices on SE heads, you may want to go with that. Will they flow more than a set done by a good porter no but then again if you cannot locate one then that might be the way to go.

Cost on porting is all over the place, I would have to say that talking with the porter is the first step, how is the service done?? What steps do they take, What parts are re-used, what parts are new, brand of new part, do they set seat PSI for your cam, do they swap springs?? If new springs what is the seat PSI?? I have seen heads that had great port work with new springs. I checked the seat psi and I know what the spring is advertised to be at but this spring pack was at 195 on the seat!! That is a ton of PSI for a mild cam. That is wasted HP there not to mention that valve train noise would most likely happed. Hope I was some help

I was told that with my 37's and headwork I should get somewhere around 100/100 which is a nice jump from 78/92. I'll let you know when I get them back and installed.

BTW--Do you have to break-in new Heads???
