A local dealer (Signature HD- Ohio) is offering the 95" kit installed for $750. Since I already have the air cleaner kit on the bike they said they would do the kit including install for $650.

Is this a good deal?

Does the 95" kit make a noticable difference in HP/Torque over the exhaust and air cleaner kit w/ PCIII?

Thats a great deal even without cams or head work you will feel a seat of the pants difference.
What model bike have you got?
I had the 95'' flat tops put in my bagger with stock cams and heads and it made a very noticeable difference
On a lighter bike like a Dyna or Softail it would be even better.
There's lots of deals on cams on ebay if you wan't to get a bit more out of it.

95" kit

Damn straight that's a good deal. I think the parts alone are that much or close to it. When I had the 95" stage II put on an 03 RoadGlide it cost all most $1600 ($1 per CC) I think you'll feel a difference even though you've already got the stage I+. I've only got the Stage I, DynoJet Power Commander & Bub/Rinehart True Duals but if I could get that price on a 95" kit I'd do it. Hell, the resale value would go up at least that much with the kit installed.

The deal runs through the end of January... The kits are on backorder from HD, but the dealer said as long as it is paid for and ordered they will honor the price.

Guess I'll have them come pick up my Street Glide since it seems to be a great deal.

Would you receommend spending the additional money on the cams since they will be tearing it apart anyway? Adding the cams shouldn't take any additional labor time should it?

Which cams would you recommend? I've heard of people losing either low end or high end power because of the cam selection. Not really even sure what I'd want.

Thats a sweet deal, they must be starving for somthing to do in the service dept. I'd be all over that like stink on shi*t, if you change cams you pretty much are stuck with the 203 unless your willing to kiss off the waranty.

Motown LEO,

I agree that $750 id a good deal for installing a stage II kit.

I think the kit comes with 203 cams, which will give you more torque in the low rpm range, usually a plus with baggers. Your other option (assuming you are restricted to HD products) is the SE 204 cam, which is very similar to the 203 but provides a little more top end.

The biggest thing you could do to influence this build is modifiy the heads.
If your flush, the SE heads are OK. Since the 95" kit5s are on backorder, you could also have your heads modified. Big Boyz (VTF Sponsor) does a great job for an unbeatable price ($300). Or you could buy a set of heads on Ebay, have them ported, and use them with your 95" build (the plus here is less down time).

Keep us posted on your decision.

regards,

wyo

What Wyodude said. That's a hell of a good deal, and while you're at it - if cams are not part of the package, I'd add them and definitely heads. You save no $$ doing a build piecemeal and you'd only be wishing you had done it all. Good luck!

Sounds like a great deal, but I am willing to bet that there are no cams included, just a rebore on the cylinders and new pistons. I have seen similar offers elsewhere. Check it out before you commit.

@gree: i've seen advertisements for "Big Bore Kit Installed" for $699 from dealers. Find out what you actually are getting...
doing it yourself, getting the parts at a 30% off sale, the 95 jugs would be $200 + cast flat tops $100 + gaskets ??? = less than $400

I just got a quick price from an Indy close by for 1000.00 95" no head work with SE203 cam. Not the set up I want, but I thought I would throw that out here for comparisons sake

Yo Mo,

1. It's not a bad deal considering what labor usually costs if you are not a wrencher yourself.
2. Yes, there is a noticeable difference over stock by just going to 1550cc.
3. There's no way that includes cams.
4. Yes - cams would add considerably to the labor cost in addition to the cost of the cams themselves, but the boyz are correct - they make a big difference themselves too.
5. The stage one that you already have will only make it NICER with the 95" and that PCIII.
6. Tuning is everything. Get it dyno tuned by a pro. Dealers don't usually do the best job at that and they usually hate PC over SERT so don't even usually try to mess with them.

Jugs, heads, and cams are three different "evolutions" in the build. If you don't want to spend the cash all at once right now, do their deal and then come back and get your heads done and matching cams to that headwork at a later time - but do them both at the same time (heads and cams.)

Let us know what you do in this thread once you decide.

I would ask about what parts are being used. I SE, Weisco, ect pistons at 250 and some generic for hundersomething. Maybe there good.

Figure could bore the cylnders for $100, $50+ gastets, pistons $250. So $400, more or less.

But if you don't want to do it yourself its not a bad price. For me to do the work around 4-6 evenings. SO theres a little bit of labor. I am sure there faster then me though.

Keep The RhineHarts?

I'm thinking of doing the 95" bore w/ flat tops and 203s to my 2006 Street Glide> I already have Rhinehart True Duals, SERT and SE air cleaner. One opinion I got was that the Rhineharts wouild no longer be optimal for that set up...that I'd want 2-into1s. Any thoughts here?

It would likely run better with a good 2-into-1. However, if you like your current pipes, just have the bike tuned for them and ride on.

if it is a stage 1 big bore kit then harley is offering a $100 rebate for labor. my dealer showed me the sheet this weekend. i would ask that would bring your bill down to $550. that would be a good deal. also just ask how much more to add cams. se cams about $260 plus whatever labor would be.
