Hi all. Finally got my fairing on and the handlebars are wrong. Too wide and hit the fairing. I picked up a set of narrow Buck horn style but they don't seem right either. Ridable though. Does anyone know the proper dimensions for the stock handlebars? TIA

Baby apes work just fine as long as the width at the bottom clears your fairing. Even then you could bump the risers up a half inch and they should clear. I converted my 85 FXRS into an FXRT. When I bought my bike used it came with 14" Chubby apes that are 36" wide at the tips of the grips. They work and look great with the RT fairing, and my only complaint is that the width makes splitting lanes a bit trickier. Stock FXRT bars are 30" from tip to tip btw. I have seen stock bars on ebay for about $100 and even the air bars, so you can find them if your current bars don't work.

Thanks for the offer Paul but I'll pass. I have Buckhorns(mini) on now. Did you have yours on with a fairing mounted? Were you using stock risers? Maybe mine are just too small but I am trying to go with something diffrerent. I believe the stock bars are similar to mini apes.

So much to learn and so much fun doing so.

Thanks for that info. I suppose the RP parts would be the same. Gives me another option. I should hear something in a day or 2. The guy has a bunch of RT parts. I know better what I to look for now as opposed to the last time I spoke with him.

I recently switched out my mini apes to buckhorn air bars for the RT. They didn't fit at first but with 4 inch pullback risers they fit quite well. Curious about the RP bars though, they look good. Now that the internally wired bars are off its easier to experiment.
