I have a 2017 Ultra Limited. While stopped at a light in town I noticed that the oil (idiot) light was on. As soon as I pulled away from the light the light went out.
Took it to the dealer and they said that it probably was the oil sending unit. They ordered it and installed it. They took it out for a test ride and same issue. Put it back on the lift and pulled the bolt for the oil sump. Two to four ounces of oil are supposed to come out. NONE DID. They called HD and were told to put a new oil pump in.
I am wondering if any damage was done to the engine as they seem to think only the pump needs to be changed and not worth the time to pull the heads and check for piston scoring.
Another fellow at the dealership had issues and when they pulled the oil sump bolt they got 4 quarts of oil out. The sump was full.
Others are having issues with the oil sending unit being bad.
Has anyone else been having these same issues and what did they do to check for any possible engine damage
